A SUMMER TIME WELL SPENT LEARNING PHILIPPINE CULTURAL DANCES

Fil-Am Association of SCV, Inc., Malaya Filipino American Dance Arts and New World Dance Academy partnered together and brought a summer the kids and teens will remember.

Malaya received a generous funding from the California Arts Council and chose Fil-Am of SCV as the recipient of their funding. Malaya provided 6 free Philippine cultural dance and music workshops to the community of Santa Clarita.  And the students did not only learn dance steps but delightfully, learned a bit of Philippine history  through dance and music.

And we could not ignore that this class would not have been possible without the generous support of New World Dance Academy.  A huge gratitude to owner Marsha Obispo Field for sharing her studio for a very good cause. And after a series of 6-weeks workshop, the students showcased what they learned with at an open house recital at Malaya's Artistic Director, Peter De Guzman's @Pilates studio in Granada Hills.  The studio was standing room only, the parents and family members were all smiles watching them embrace their Filipino culture.  And indeed, the kids did an excellent job in expressing their Filipino culture through dance and music.

With utmost gratitude to Malaya's instructors Anna Lisa De Guzman and Peter De Guzman, and Music Directors Reggie De Guzman and Marlo Campos.

Please come and support Malaya and New World Dance Academy, proud Filipino entrepreneurs.
