FIL-AM OF SCV'S ANNUAL FAMILY PICNIC
Let's all gear up, pack up some chairs and blankets, and bring a favorite dish. It's time to heat up the grill for the Fil-Am of SCV's Annual Family Easter Picnic.
Once again, it's that time of the year to celebrate the very essence of our Association. Fil-Am started with a small group of Filipinos living in a vast valley of farmland, the Santa Clarita Valley. Getting together to celebrate Easter was one of the many ways that group of Filipino parents were able to instill the value of close-knit family ties to their children and grandchildren, in a fun and exciting way!
Now 41 years later, the very same group of families - the Bertulfos, Imperials, Montebons, Carantos, Carreons, Obnials, Resellas, and Gatilaos, among others, have managed to continue to engage not only their children, who now have families of their own, but also majority of the Filipino-Americans living in the city of Santa Clarita.
So come, join us and be a part of this legacy with your own family. Experience our traditional Filipino games like the pabitin, sack race and egg toss. Enjoy fresh barbecue grilling, singing and dancing, and of course, what is Easter without egg hunting.
So, mark your calendars and we'll see you on Sunday, April 20, 2025 @ 11:00 A.M., at the Santa Clarita Park, 27285 Seco Canyon Rd, Santa Clarita, CA 91350.
Thank you, and we’ll see you there!
Maraming salamat at magkita-kita tayo mga Kababayan!

CONTINUING OUR TRADITION,
A WHOLESOME FAMILY PICNIC!
We had such an amazing time last Sunday, March 30, 2024, at our Spring Family Picnic!
The most rewarding part of the day was seeing all of the kids having fun, playing games and seeing their precious smiles, it’s simply priceless! And the adults equally had a great time. We made new friends, reconnected with old friends and strengthened the bond among our Fil-Am of SCV family and beyond.
This picnic was in lieu of the Easter Picnic which was cancelled due to rain. And despite the rescheduling, we had very good attendance. This simply shows how we Filipinos, loves spending time with our family, getting together with friends, engaging in outdoor activities and simply soaking under the sun.
Our Picnic Committee headed by Ronnie Tejada, Mike Justiniano and Nic Montebon, Jr. did an amazing job putting this picnic together. We also acknowledges the hard work of committee members Myra Miranda, Mul Tayoba, Zeny Justiniano and Linda Crawford and host Alexis Riguerra certainly kept our even alive and exciting.
Thank you to all who participated and volunteered, we are looking forward to having you again at our Easter Family Picnic next year.
Thank you once again to all, Maraming Salamat sa inyong Lahat!

PRO
40TH ANNIVERSARY,
A CELEBRATION OF THE PAST AND THE FUTURE
OF FIL-AM OF SCV
BY: JACQUELINE FERRER-MARTINEZ, 2023 PRESIDENT & 2024 BOARD OF
DIRECTOR , FIL-AM OF SCV
40 years ago, a few ‘pioneers’ had the vision to unite Filipino Americans living in the Sta. Clarita Valley, to form a
social organization, become active in the community and be recognized as a united Filipino group. Thank you to
our pioneers, the late Adrian Gomez and Rudy Correa, Jun Gatilao, Cesar Obnial, Art Caranto, and Fred Bertulfo,
for having the vision.
On March 23, 2024, Fil-Am of SCV filled the Hyatt Hotel’s Grand Ballroom in celebration of 40 years of
philanthropy. Of course, the Honorable Mayor Cameron Smyth was on-hand to help us celebrate. Celebrating our
40th Anniversary means Fil-Am is even older than the city of Santa Clarita! This milestone was accomplished thru
the hard work and dedication of our volunteers, our Board of Directors, and Trustees. We depend solely upon our
volunteers to help our association thrive and do the necessary work.

“Volunteers are the only human beings on the face of the earth who reflect this nation’s compassion, unselfish caring, patience, and just plain loving one another.”
